£17,316 - £31,314 pro rata per annum

Part of the department of Creative & Performing Arts you will join a growing, dynamic and successful department with a highly motivated and experienced team of over 45 full and part time teaching staff who are dedicated to supporting students to achieve outstanding outcomes, delivering a broad range of programmes to over 500 students.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent practitioner, with knowledge of theatre production and design, who will be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver highly effective sessions across levels1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 in one or more of the subject areas within the specified posts.

Milton Keynes College is a leading Further Education College providing vocational, academic, professional and higher education courses across four Milton Keynes based campuses. The College also holds the contract to deliver the Offenders' Learning and Skills Service at various prisons and young offenders institutions.

Description of duties

Principal accountabilities:

*To play a significant role in the design, development and delivery of programmes of learning which meet the needs of the College's students and which satisfy internal and external quality assurance criteria
*To understand the learning needs of the student population and be able to deliver challenging and exciting learning sessions
*To take on responsibility of delivery across Levels 1-5
*To be responsible for recruitment of students and the promotion of courses in the Department
*To prepare, teach and mark as required, using value added and other data to set challenging targets
*To undertake internal verification and liaise with the External Verifier as necessary
*To set and monitor SMART learning targets and use ILPs effectively
*To assist in the administration of learning and to maintain accurate records of students' learning activities including learners' progress, assessment schedules, schemes of work, course reviews and induction programmes
*To engage actively in the College's staff appraisal process.

Experience / Qualifications

*Minimum of a Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject
*Hold a teaching qualification PGCE, Cert.Ed, DTTLS, PTTLS or be prepared to undertake this
*Have a good track record of excellence in teaching in schools or post compulsory sector
*Be able to teach creatively, adapting to the needs of a variety of learners and be willing to explore new teaching and learning strategies
*Good working knowledge of different theatre production, operation and design techniques
*Good knowledge of production planning and technical theatre operations
*Able to motivate self and demonstrate a commitment to your own professional development
*Good communication skills both written and verbal
*Commitment to students and students' success
*Be able to contribute, participate and share in the responsibility for the development of the department's work
*Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
*Have the ability to work as part of a team and on their own initiative
*Knowledge of ICLT and/or willing to learn
*Have experience of teaching a wide range of production related disciplines across a variety of programmes from level 1 up to level 5 (Higher Education)
*Hold proven and recent relevant occupational / industrial experience

Hours: 18.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
