Description My client, one of the major Vauxhall dealerships in the local area are now seeking experience ex military vehicle technicians to join them now

You will be reporting to the workshop manager, and you will be assisting with the servicing of various vehicles as needed.

The Vehicle Technician job involves all or some of the following tasks
• Analyses work orders to understand a vehicles condition, accuracy of diagnosis and agreed work
• Determines parts and tools required for a repair and ensures availability.
• Diagnoses and completes repairs
• Uses computer to determine how long given service or repair will take - advises Service Advisor or Team Leader.
• Conducts routine service on vehicles
• Documents completed work orders including repairs, parts and labour.
• Informs Service Advisor and Parts Department if a part is required.
• Ask for clarification from Service Advisor/Parts Department if a work order is not clear or seems incorrect.
• Performs complicated repair sequences according to established procedures.
• Writes on the work order the repairs completed, the parts required and the labour to be charged.
• Documents any other vehicle problems noted during servicing.
• Interacts directly with customers to explain vehicle problems and the steps taken to correct the problems as needed.
• Ensures that all Health and Safety legislation and internal procedures are followed.
• Ensures the security of all inventory and analyses the quality of parts.
• Attends regular safety meetings to review work safety rules.
• Ensures the maintenance of tools, equipment and other materials.
• Performs other reasonable activities from time to time.

Knowledge Required
• City & Guilds part 1,2, 3 or NVQ level 3 as a minimum
• Automotive systems (e.g. basic vehicle layout, function and location of parts).
• Parts requirements to completed job, the ability to communicate parts requirements via repair orders
• Approved and established procedures for conducting service/repairs
• The quality control and inspection requirements of the Service Department.
• New models and recent improvements through technical bulletins, training courses and technical meetings, etc.
• The manufacturers new and recent products.
• The retail motor industry and automotive systems in general.

The work will involve
• Ability to work positively among other Technicians and Service Advisors and to help them when needed.
• Ability to pay close attention to administrative details
• High level of record keeping.
• High level of detail - oriented paperwork (repairs, charges, etc.).
• Ability to work independently
• Write clearly and legibly, to listen and document items accurately
• A professional appearance and enthusiastic attitude.
• Work in a busy, active and lively environment
• Ability to manage own time and workflow.
