Division Description
Primary Purpose of the Role - The Programme Controller will be responsible for the maintenance of plans that drive programme & customer delivery within cost, time & quality constraints. Programme planning has a direct impact on the reliability of financial forecasts and underpins informed decision-making associated with Risk & Opportunity.
The Programme Controller/Planner will be responsible for-
Key Tasks
1. Ensure that the programme schedule is constructed and developed in accordance with agreed standards that include resourcing of Risk & scheduling by named individual
2. Generate, maintain and monitor progress of Work Packages.
3. Liaise with Work Package Leaders / Managers to update the programme schedule for work complete.
4. Establish the impact of work complete / not complete against programme milestones & make recommendations to help recover programme slip.
5. Update budgetary information held within the schedule with actual costs to derive an updated Estimate-at-Completion.
6. Analyse cost variation(s) and initiate decision-making to maintain or improve position for updated Estimate-at-Completion.
7. Provide PM/CAM with guidance in the preparation & maintenance of the WBS.
8. Provide expert support to PM/CAM for Earned Value Management and ensure that Programme schedule supports an appropriate level of EV reporting.
9. Administer and maintain the Programme Risk Register and Risk Analysis process.
10. Validate that Primavera-derived S&OP data within the Company forward load tool is suitable for Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) purposes.
The Programme Controller will have the following Technical/Professional skills-
Technical & Professional skills-
• Excellent understanding of generic processes and techniques used to schedule project activities e.g. WBS, OBS, milestones, dependencies & CSF, project network, float, critical path, forward & backward pass.
• Hands-on working knowledge / application of scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera. Good understanding of the Programme Management process that includes Change Control, Risk Management, Information Management and Handover.
• Knowledge of the project life cycle for aerospace Development / Support / Prime Contract Management Programmes, or relevant military or civil aviation background.
• Good understanding of the principles of Earned Value Management and the demands that EV reporting places on the schedule.
• Numeracy level should be aligned with the need to carry out detailed investigation of cost variance(s) and publishing of financial information directly into Company financial reports.
• Literacy level and report writing skills should meet requirements to produce short presentations, flow-charts or mini-reports suitable for distribution to senior management, without the need for significant additional re-work.
Education & Qualifications -Post-Graduate or HNC/HND level education or proven successful work experienced in planning a complex and sizeable Project environment.
• Intermediate level Excel (‘what if’ statements, pivot tables, charting).
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft tools Word, Access & PowerPoint.
