The Manufacturing Engineer : Capability Acquisition reports to the Chief of Capability Acquisition within a Supply Chain Unit (SCU). They undertake projects to develop new technologies for use within the SCU up to MCRL6, or to introduce and prove new capital equipment for the plants within the SCU. They liaise with Manufacturing Technology to ensure technologies relevant to several SCUs are correct for their SCU.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Capability Acquisition (CA) - Deliver and maintain the Manufacturing Capability required for the SCU by:-
?Identifying opportunities for new capabilities to support commodity and product strategies including new projects
?Acquiring, developing, sustaining and implementing capability, capital and manufacturing technology for the SCU, including IT infrastructure, in line with the Manufacturing Capability Acquisition (MCA) process
?Managing, developing and maintaining manufacturing technology business relationships with JV`s, RRSP`s and other designated suppliers
Product Introduction and Life Cycle Management - Support the development of manufacturing processes for new parts which meet the customers` requirements for quality, cost, delivery & responsiveness and ensure that this level of performance can be maintained through the product lifecycle by:-
?Developing product specific manufacturing capabilities in line with project requirements
?Developing an understanding of Key Process Variables to support the development of Quality Control Plans which provide confidence in the ability to meet design intent
Continuous Improvement - Support the SCU to ensure customer requirements for quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness are met and maintained by:-
?Developing product specific manufacturing capabilities in line with business requirements
?Providing technical leadership to capital acquisition activities in line with business requirements
?Ensuring individual Manufacturing Processes are developed consistent with corporate best practice whether that be defined within the SCU or within the central Function
