Commodity Manager :

International Defence Organisation based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire is currently looking to recruit a Commodity Manager.

Please Note: you must be eligible for SC (Secret Level) Security Clearance.

The salary on offer is £45k - £50k + great benefits.

Commodity Manager Job Description:

The Commodities procurement organisation buys Mechanical and Electronic products and services to support range of weapon systems. It also buys indirect products, support and services related to areas such as Information Management and Facility Management. The role is to lead international, multifunctional teams in the sourcing and management of suppliers for Mechanical commodities.

Accountabilities:

• Conduct market intelligence gathering, identify suppliers in new markets and improvement opportunities, gather price and cost trend information for use in developing Commodity Strategies
• Lead a multifunctional and pan country team to define and implement Commodity and sourcing strategies, for the selection of suppliers for the Mechanical Commodities
• To prepare, negotiate and agree Frame Agreements and ensure that these are successfully implemented in each country entity
• Coordinate and animate network of local buyers to ensure compliance with strategies, including selected suppliers and group policies
• Drive down prices through the application of competitive methodologies to achieve and preferably exceed pre-agreed savings targets.
• Drive standardisation and commonality of what is to be bought
• Lead a multifunctional team which monitors and improves supplier performance through supplier development and improvement programmes

Experience/Skills:

• Procurement professional preferably Educated to degree level
•Engineering qualifications would be an advantage
• Management experience within an European cultural environment
• Results driven negotiator with good leadership and analytical skills
• Strong commercial, contractual and legal knowledge
• Team player with cultural sensitivity and excellent influencing skills
• Highly literate with excellent written communication skills
• Able to work within a demanding and changing environment.
• Fluent in the English language with French and Italian language skills desirable.
• IT skills in terms of data analysis, manipulation and presentation required (Excel and PowerPoint)
