Finite Element Analyst - Powertrain

We are currently looking for a Finite Element Analyst to work for an Automotive company based in Warwickshire.

Job Title:- Finite Element Analyst Experience:- Powertrain
Skills:- Knowledge of Thermodynamics and thermal loads
Location:- Warwickshire
Rate:- Up to £33.00 p/h Ltd Co.
40 hours basic + 5 hours Overtime

The Role:
*A vacancy exists for a Finite Element Analyst.
*Powertrain CAE provide an analysis service to the Powertrain development department. *This comprises of Transmissions and driveline, intake and exhaust systems, fuel and cooling systems, gasoline and diesel engines.
*Noise Vibration and Harshness, Durability and Performance Emissions and Driveability attributes are covered.

Skills Required:
*Must have powertrain experience, ideally base-engine.
* Minimum 5-7 years experience.
*Not - Crash/Body/Chassis people.
*Software used is mainly Hyperworks with some Catia and Simulink. Solvers are Abacus and Nastran.
*Capable of working independently, obtaining CAD data, building models, preparing decks.
*Take ownership of issues, resolve with design and test teams.
*Must have worked within powertrain for an OEM or Tier 1.

*Knowledge of Thermodynamics and thermal loads.
*Carry out Durability and NVH analysis on a variety of Powertrain systems using Finite Element methods.
*Construct Finite Element models from CAD geometry.
*Perform normal mode and forced response analysis.
*Carry out design optimisation studies.
*Perform fatigue assessments using stress or strain based techniques.
*Report results in an accurate and concise manner both verbally and in written form. Able to communicate effectively at all levels

Education Required:
*BSc/MSc Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
*Qualifications can be lower if suitably experienced.
*Candidates from other industries may be considered depending on knowledge and experience.
*Could be from a Gas Turbine background.
