Job Profile: An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to work within our Client's Mechanical Systems Design Team and to lead system & component designs from concept through to production.
Essential Skills
Experience and
Qualifications:
You must have either an Engineering degree (Mechanical, Automotive or similar) or significant practical experience in an engineering environment.
You must have an excellent understanding of manufacturing principles and processes, along with an understanding of engine systems.
You must have experience of Pro-E and Pro Mechanica and be able to design using this programme.
You must have previous design experience in off-highway diesel engine component and system design.
You must have previous experience of organising and running projects from start to completion.
You will need to have knowledge of 8D and APQP.
Job Description:
The current Design Team is a 25 strong team of multi-skilled design engineers capable of working on all aspects of diesel engine design covering a broad product range of engines manufactured on site and at other global facilities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering detailed design solutions on New Product Introduction programmes, Quality Improvement projects and to achieve our Cost Reduction goals.
This current vacancy would ideally attract an experienced Design Engineer from a similar sector looking for a progressive business offering considerable scope for professional development.
Alternatively, this may also hold appeal for an individual with a sound mechanical engineering background keen to transition into the Off Highway Engine Design sector.
You will carry out Mechanical Engineering design studies of engine components and systems.
Pro-E design and detail drawing work of engine components and systems.
You will be coordinating design and detailing work with outsourced low cost design houses.
You will be responsible for collaboration with multiple functions of the business including other engineering teams, manufacturing engineering and applications engineering.
You will be responsible for your own individual time management and project management.
You will be building strong working relationships with suppliers worldwide, to optimise component design and to achieve our Time, Cost and Quality deliverables.
Salary/Rate: £35,000 - £42,000 per annum plus a 12% annual bonus.
