Safety CAE Principal Engineer

Based on a very attractive University campus, this Centre of Excellence is building on its growing reputation for Electric Vehicle (EV) development. It has plans to expand it operation and increase the number of talented Engineers and Specialists it employs, working on new projects incorporating cutting edge technologies. This growth has created an opportunity for a Safety CAE Principal Engineer to join the team. This role is based in Coventry commutable from Birmingham, Warwick, Leicester, Gaydon, Milton Keynes, Leamington, Northampton, may also interest candidates in the Crewe area. Ideally being offered as a permanent staff job, will also consider hourly contract.
As the Safety CAE Principal Engineer working on vehicle programmes within the structural and safety CAE team, the job will include the following responsibilities:

• Leadership of the safety CAE competency on vehicle projects
• Support all aspects of pre and post processing of LS-Dyna high speed load cases
• Project management of programmes, adopting a disciplined and methodical approach to their work
• Work across other CAE functions and code domains to gain a whole vehicle appreciation
• Primarily UK based, there will be the need to spend approximately one week in 12 overseas at the parent company
• Occasional travel to test facilities, suppliers and other world-wide locations will also be necessary on an adhoc basis
Candidate requirements:
• Degree or similar qualification
• Strong numeracy and literacy
• A minimum of 5 years automotive industry experience
• Have evidence of achieving results through effective leadership of a team, being able to translate the business plan into individual objectives for staff
• A minimum of 5 years applied experience with LS-Dyna,, or similar, used for crash analysis
• Secondary competency in Durability and NVH analysis would be an advantage
• Have the ability to overcome cultural barriers
