Reporting To: Design Manager

Job Status: Contract : Initial 6 months, renewable

Experience & Skills:

Engine system / component design experience.
New product experience (concept to launch), writing, developing and validating engineering specifications.
Experience of major engine system/s: for example fuel, charge management, turbo chargers, EGR, major castings, cooling power conversion, gears, valve-train etc.
Good general engine engineering knowledge - lubrication, castings, heat exchange, dynamic systems, rotating components and engine wiring harness and sensors.
3D CAD system operation (NX preferable but will consider other 3D systems i.e. Pro Engineer, CATIA V5 etc).
Self-starting and ability to make things happen.

Responsibilities:

Join a small team in the Design Department working on Medium Duty Off Highway Diesel Engines with responsibility for:

Engine system/component design in a multi project environment, with close liaison with the co-located development function.
Simultaneous Engineering: design for assembly / manufacture / cost / service.
Work with purchasing to identify suitable suppliers and optimize tooling and piece cost.
Presentation at design reviews.
Develop and validate specifications.
Formal design documentation to include: FMEA, DVPSOR, change documentation and drawings.
Positions are at various levels, dependent on experience and ambition. Principal positions may have team leading responsibilities.
