This role is to direct and participate in the concept and design of complex engineering products or process projects for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality and serviceability.
You will be responsible for leading a team and participating in the solving of complex, global technical problems and creating critical components and systems.
Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
You must be degree educated in an engineering subject or have extensive time served experience.
You must have experience of working with the development team, customers, suppliers, purchasing, and manufacturing to define and develop clutch actuation systems for powershuttle (manual shift) and powershift transmissions.
You will need to have experience in powertrain analysis, powertrain performance and hydro-mechanical control systems and be able to perform complex assignments.
This role requires a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills, good analytical skills and proven team leadership.
This role requires the person to have knowledge of experience of 6 Sigma, proven experience of technical issues resolution, Pro/Engineer modelling experience and proven knowledge of engineering quality systems and design processes.
Job Description:
You will manage the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, mentor and coach team members, and broaden your professional network.
You will provide technical guidance on needs analysis and initiate ideas.
You will communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units.
You will lead teams in the design of new products, processes, components, and systems.
You will be expected to complete projects on time and on cost.
You will need to acknowledge and raise customers' and management's awareness of trade-offs between time, resources and quality.
The key role of a Senior Engineer - Design is that of contributor to the planning and delivery of a project.
This position will be accountable for contributing to the concept, development and design of complex components, subsystems or processes mainly focused on the design, development, test, and maintenance of hydro-mechanical control systems used on small transmission applications.
This position performs complex analysis work, identifies design problems and resolves problems.
Although this position may be the transition from individual contributor to team leadership, the major focus of the job is on technical delivery.
This position requires the person to have the ability to communicate technical information in a concise and accurate manner.
Decisions made may affect the project team and its delivery of the project.
Decisions may significantly impact on negotiations with suppliers, leveraging new technologies, warranty, costs, sales and customer perception.
To succeed in this role the Senior Engineer - Design, will include demonstrating excellent analytical skills and a mastery of engineering concepts.
The major challenges facing incumbents will be meeting goals for cost, reliability and performance, and managing multiple priorities.
This position must keep up-to-date on changing customer needs as the project progresses, to stay current with new technology, and to provide guidance and direction on the project to less experienced engineers and technicians.
The incumbent may be expected to bear significant responsibility for completion of a project with major focus on delivery.
In this role you will working with the development team, customers, suppliers, purchasing, and manufacturing to define and develop clutch actuation systems for powershuttle (manual shift) and powershift transmissions.
You will design and promote new components, perform needs analysis and initiate ideas, evaluate new products or processes, perform product maintenance, keep up to date on new technologies or develop new technologies.
Engineers will be responsible for managing their own development, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology.
Salary/Rate:
£19.01 - £28.52 per hour depending on previous experience. May be prepared to go higher than this for an outstanding candidate.
