Description Main purpose of the job
To design products with significant RF electronics content for automotive, industrial, consumer and defence clients. To make a significant technical contribution, liaising with and presenting to clients.

Type of work undertaken by the group
The Radio Sensing Group encompasses our expertise in the fields of RF based imaging and detection, advanced control and signal processing. We are well resourced for RF design to 10 GHz in terms of experience, test equipment and simulation tools and provide hardware and system design for products with a significant RF electronics content.

Specific examples include:

Short range radar development for automotive, defence, industrial and consumer applications
Short range radar imaging and inspection
Product development and system supply of wideband radar-based missile test instrumentation
Electronics development for positioning and location systems from RFID to UWB location
Antenna design to support automotive, telecommunications and sensing products
Radio communications systems and circuit design

Specific responsibilities
Specific responsibilities will include:

To make a significant technical contribution to the project team
Undertake technical system and architecture design tasks to meet the specification
Working at all times as part of a close-knit multi-disciplinary project team focussed on delivering the design solution to our client
Participating in sales meetings with clients to understand their requirements and demonstrate Cambridge Consultant’s capability
Board level design of RF/analogue circuits to component level
Simulation of critical components
Supervision of schematic capture and layout work by CAD staff
Test and verification of RF circuits
Preparation of data for client review
The ability to carry out these responsibilities as an individual and also as a team member are essential.

Minimum requirements
To meet the demanding requirements of this role you will have an excellent first degree or post graduate degree in electronic engineering or a related discipline and significant relevant experience. Doctorates with RF design experience will also be considered.

Due to the nature of the work, it will be necessary to obtain security clearance for the successful applicant, and therefore the applicant must hold UK nationality.

Significant depth of knowledge and experience in at least one of the following:

RF design for systems operating at frequencies between 400MHz and 10GHz
Sensor design (Analogue, RF and Microwave)
RF circuit board level design
Additionally it would be advantageous to have knowledge in the following:

EMC testing
Type approval standards and testing for European, US and far eastern markets
Design for and transfer of products to volume productione
