Role: ILS Engineer
Salary: £27,000 - £36,000
Location: Bedford
A lead systems integrator and advanced technology company is looking for an Senior ILS Engineer to be responsible for supporting the Managers in the implementation of Supportability programmes. Working with integrated engineering teams and reporting to an ILS team lead, the role involves liaison with all elements of the business, from proposal generation, through development, manufacture, introduction into service and eventual planning for disposal.
Responsibilities for this role will include:
· AP and D&M Phase defence programmes involving Land Systems and Vehicle Systems Integration.
· A thorough understanding of the ILS/LSA process and its tailoring according to programme phase.
· ILS Work package management - this is a hands-on position, the successful candidate will enjoy considerable autonomy of operation but will in return be wholly responsible for programme success within their specialism.
· The ability to take a joined-up Through Life Management approach to ILS across the CADMID cycle.
· Experience with COTS based systems.
· The ability to interface and influence on supportability issues at all programme levels.
· The ability to develop good working relationships with both customers and sub-contractors.
· An understanding of Reliability and Maintainability engineering.
For this role the successful applicant will require Thorough knowledge and understanding of Def Stans 00-40, 00-41, 00-42, 00-43 and 00-60 and experience of the LSA process, LSA tailoring and LSAR. Experience of preparation of ILS documentation: ILS Plans, Element Plans, LSA Plan, etc and experience in compilation of LSA data: S&TE, provisioning requirements, NATO codification,
PHS&TT requirements, etc is also required.
Understanding of obsolescence management and the writing of obsolescence management plans, an understanding of Training needs and development and of the Technical Publications process would be useful. The ability to estimate and contribute to LCC/WLC projection would be advantageous.
