Description RF Applications Engineer – Cambridge – up to £60,000 pa

Responsibilities Include:

Assisting customers with hardware support during COMPANY product development
Driving resolution technical issues encountered during the development process.
Developing direct customer relationship to provide recommendations and feedback on new features for COMPANY's next generation Wireless chips
Recognising new business opportunities for COMPANY products and building on established relationships with customers.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have experience in several of the following;

Technical skills

• RF Principles; power, frequency, intermodulation and spurious
• RF Design; switches, balun, PA, filtering and impedance matching
• RF Testing; frequency spectrum (spurious and blocking), receive sensitivity, max input level and output power
• Soldering and the ability to work using a microscope
• RF test equipment use in analytical and debug scenarios
• WiFi; 802.11a/b/g
• MatLab
• RF Simulation Tools
• Production Test
• Hardware interfaces - UART, SDIO, USB and SPI knowledge specifically
• Wireless system hardware design, validation testing and /or certification
• Other wireless communication standards; Bluetooth, Cellular Hand sets
• UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access) and FMC (Fixed Mobile Convergence)
• Applications Engineering in a semiconductor environment

Personal skills

• Dynamic and outgoing personality
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Diagnostic and analytical skills

Person Specification:

Required:

• Working knowledge of C and C++
• Working knowledge of Linux development (GCC)
• Working knowledge of Windows development
• Effective communication skills
• Good knowledge of Software development cycles.

Desired:

• Experienced embedded system development.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (Perl, Python)
• Exposure to automated build and test system
• Experience of WinCE, Symbian development

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant subject (Electronic or RF Engineering or equivalent) and will have worked in the industry.
