Description		SAFETY ENGINEER - Bedfordshire Salary: �31-35,000 pa (Depending on experience) + benefits (FULL RELOCATION PACKAGE IF APPROPRIATE) PLEASE NOTE: CANDIDATES APPLYING FOR THIS POSITION WILL NEED TO QUALIFY FOR FULL UK SECURITY CLEARANCE AND SHOULD THEREFORE BE OF BRITISH NATIONALITY AND CURRENTLY RESIDE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM Our client is a leading UK defence contractor supplying integrated system solutions to the UK and allied armed forces directly or through global prime contractors. The Company's experience and capabilities range from Future Concepts, Communications Systems Integration, Combat Systems Integration and support systems on or close to the battlefield. This is supported by a Manufacturing capability specialising in mechanical and composite components and system assembly. Brief Job Description: A Safety Engineer is required to join the Technical Operations functional area. � Working as part of a multi-disciplined team the candidate will be expected to provide support to a range of projects that could relate to vehicle installations or munitions. The projects are at various stages within their equipment life cycle and he/she will be required to carry out a diverse range of tasks including (but not limited to) safety analyses of designs, hazard and risk assessments using tools such as HAZOP and Fault Tree Analysis and safety management of potentially hazardous trials. � The successful candidate will have experience in using the CASSANDRA Hazard Management System software; the MoDs preferred through life management tool for the identification, assessment and analysis of hazards. Essential Experience: � Qualified to degree or equivalent standard in an engineering subject. � Proven experience in a safety-associated role, preferably in a defence related industry. � Detailed understanding and experience of UK, US and EEC Safety Legislation. � Fully familiar with the relevant Joint Service Publications and Defence Standards associated with safety assessment of defence equipment. � Competent in the use of MS-Office applications. � The role will require the candidate to have good verbal and written skills and to liase with both customers and suppliers. Desirable Experience: � It would be advantageous if the candidate has a working knowledge and understanding of the UK MoD Design Certification process and The Adelard ASCE Safety Case software application tool.
