Due to company growth, this leading name engineering company are looking for an experienced systems engineer with a high-reliability/safety-critical software/hardware development background. The successful candidate will have a good background in systems development within an area such as defence, aerospace, rail, medical, automotive, etc.
You'll work within this well-established company, which offers the atmosphere of being a 100-200 person business, with the security of being backed by a well-known multinational engineering company. This means you'll have a chance to work directly with management, and your welfare and career progression is vitally important to the company. You'll be working on a variety of cutting edge embedded software projects, incorporating high-reliability software standards, graphical and communications technologies.
Main duties will include:
- Design of complex software/hardware-intensive systems following a systems engineering approach.
- Technically lead, co-ordinate and motivate a multi-discipline project team to develop and deliver systems/products on time and on budget
- Capture and develop customer requirements into system requirements.
- Produce systems design solutions to satisfy the customer’s requirements.
- Produce design specifications and solutions ensuring design quality and performance
- Systems development following processes and procedures to industry and safety-related standards for development and configuration management.
- Produce system/product verification plans and procedures to allow detailed integration and verification testing of the developed system/product.
- Contribute to the continuous development of systems and business processes.
- Provide project data, performing presentations and demonstrations, as required
Experience required:
- Expertise in embedded software/hardware product and system design and development within a high-integrity environment
- Requirements capture and management skills (Knowledge of DOORS would be advantageous)
- Excellent communicator both verbally and in writing.
- Comfortable interfacing at all levels in the business.
- Knowledge of the complete systems lifecycle
Desirable (but by no means essential):
- Knowledge of working to safety-critical standards (Safety-critical standard experience - MISRA, SIL-2/4, IEC, DO-178B, etc.)
