Description Safety Risk Consultant North West and Oxfordshire

Safety & Risk Consultant. Safety & Risk Consultant with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience. The successful candidate will join a leading consultancy specialising in the management and assessment of environmental risks and safety.

Duties:

· Apply scientific and engineering principles and techniques to assess safety and environmental risks
· Work with limited supervision to assist higher-grade consultants on projects.
· Provide technical advice and guidance to lower grade consultants.
· Continue to acquire and apply a working knowledge of risk analysis and hazard identification techniques.
· Prepare or manage the preparation of technical reports or parts of technical reports to clients in the nuclear industry i.e Safety Case Reports.
· Manage projects.
· Assist in general marketing and sales activities.

Requirements:

· A good working knowledge of risk analysis and hazard identification techniques and their applications to problem solving.
· Up to date understanding of the relevant legislation on Health & Safety and Environmental Protection and its application.
· Knowledge of the Regulations governing the Nuclear Industry is preferable.
· A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in an engineering, science or related field of study. A postgraduate qualification is desirable but not essential. Equivalent successful work experience or equivalent technical qualifications may be substituted for the education requirement.
· Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.
· A minimum of three years related and relevant work experience – this could be as a: safety analyst; safety engineer; safety and risk assessor (COMAHs etc); safety specialist; risk or safety management or consultant; process engineer; reactor physicist; radiological protection advisor.
· Due to the sensitive nature of some of our clients work, preference will be given to candidates for whom we can, relatively quickly, obtain security clearance (SC) In order to obtain SC clearance, applicants must have been resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
