We have a vacancy at our Portsmouth Shipbuilding Facility for an Electrical Designer.

Main Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• To carry out, as part of the team, tasks associated with the concept and detailed design of electrical systems on Naval vessels and any other projects undertaken in the future.
• Other duties will include analysis, definition and preparation of technical specifications for:
o Power generation and distribution systems.
o Power conversion machinery.
o Platform Management Systems.
o Lighting systems.
o Detection systems.
o Lightning protection.
o Degaussing systems.
o Flight deck and hangar electrical services.
o Cathodic protection.
• Travel may be required of this role.

Role Requirements:

• To observe and follow the Company’s Health and Safety rules and guidelines
• A flexible attitude towards regular travel both within the UK and overseas
• Will be required to cross all disciplines of engineering but particular experience and competence in the Electrical/ Hull and Outfit area is required

The Successful Candidate will:

• Ideally educated to degree or HND standard and have achieved, or be applying for, membership of IEE
• Be able to communicate effectively as part of a multi disciplined team, with their team and customers.
• Be able to demonstrate good presentation skills and have a working knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
