Engineering Manager

Location: South Wales
Salary: circa £45,000

Reports
Reporting to the Site Manager and being a member of the Operations Management Team
Direct reports: Engineer Team Leader, Project Engineers, Shift Engineers.

Overview:
My client has performed strongly over the past 5 years and enjoys an excellent reputation within the Group. A major expansion in manufacturing capacity has just been completed with every prospect of further investment in the site in the near future.

Job Profile:
A strong multi-skilled engineering manager is required to bring effective leadership, quickly improve all round performance of the department and build morale in the team.

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills are essential to ensure the Engineering Department improves its performance and works effectively with the operating team. At the same time the Engineering Manager will build constructive relationships with colleagues both within the site and across other European operations.

Effective man manager and strong personality, unwilling to tolerate excuses but able to motivate and get the best out of his team.

Ability to appreciate the wider strategic issues but when required also able to work hands on and win the respect of his team.

In a high pressure and demanding environment must be able to stay calm and focussed, insisting at all times on a professional and logical approach to problem solving always ensuring lessons are learned and actions taken to ensure problems are not repeated.

Through hard work, open and honest communications build confidence and trust with manager, colleagues and build a strong motivated teamwork culture within the department.

Responsibilities:
Ensure site is a safe place to work and always promote a safe working culture
Management of the Engineering Department
KPI performance management
Communications
Continuous improvement
Capital expenditure budget and project management
Implementation of planned maintenance

Key Performance Indicators:
Accident rate
Line outputs per hour
Machine utilisation
Cost effective management of repairs and maintenance expenditure
Capital expenditure project management
Spares, availability management and stock control
Engineering consumables, ditto
Visible condition of machinery and equipment

Qualifications:
Engineering Degree
Electronic drive programming
IT and presentation skills
Engineering management experience
