Our client is a leading Satellite designer and manufacturer with modern facilities in the Portsmouth area. The vacancy is for a Degree (or equivalent) qualified Safety Engineer to be part of a small Safety and Product Liability team working on Secure Satellite Systems in the military and commercial environment.
The role has a significant Safety bias but may also involve some environmental, human factors and EMC test activities.

The Safety Engineer will be expected to –
Liaise with internal engineers to help with continuous improvement of safety implementation within design and product requirement development
Be capable of influencing project team members and have a proven record of communication skills with relevant stakeholders
Perform and maintain safety analysis
Produce safety cases and reports for control centres
Construct and maintain Hazard Logs (experience of CASSANDRA Hazard Log management tool is desirable.)
To provide post delivery support to the customer which will involve some travelling to site to investigate any hardware issues in the field

The successful Safety Engineer will have the following skills and experience –
Good knowledge of European New Approach Directives.
Experience of DEF STAN 00-56, JSP 454, JSP 430, BS EN 61508
