We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to join a small and friendly Technology Department based near Cardiff in South Wales. This company is a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of precision, innovative downhole electromechanical data acquisition instrumentation for the worldwide oil and gas industry. Their products are used to measure of flow, pressure, temperature and other parameters within the well bore.

As Software Development Engineer you will be required to design with advanced processors and FPGAs, and to develop C/C++ in embedded applications, PC applications using C++, .NET, DSP based solutions, firmware for custom bus communication protocols and high quality, efficient and well-documented code.

Your duties will also include maintaining existing software applications, generating software specifications to meet client requirements and writing user manuals for software applications.

To succeed as Software Development Engineer you should be qualified to degree level or equivalent in Software Engineering or related subject with sound experience of hardware design as well as FPGA based design in HDL and schematic entry, Real-Time embedded C/C++, Assembler and PC application design in C++, .net environment.

Experience of sensor interface, data transmission / bus systems would be an advantage as would knowledge of TCP-IP, Unix and experience with telemetry and communication systems.

You will need the ability to work with minimum supervision, and to effectively multi-task. Determined and persistent, you will work well both independently and as part of a small team. You should be committed to quality and someone who thrives under pressure.
