IT Systems Engineer
Based Tees Valley
THE CLIENT
Our Client is an Engineering Information Management Company.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Responsible to the I.T. Services Manager, I.T. Systems Engineers work within the I.T. Services department and are required to undertake a wide range of business related activities, including those listed below:
Providing an I.T. service to the company, including the setting up, management and maintenance of the companys I.T. infrastructure. This includes desktop PCs, network services and associated equipment (e.g. routers, firewalls), cabling, connectivity, remote communications, peripherals and telephony including VOIP, VPN, etc.
Installation and configuration of operating systems including various Microsoft and Linux variants, systems server applications and desktop applications.
I.T. security issues including anti-virus protection from unauthorised access to company systems from within the organisation and externally.
Provision of a help desk service to system users.
The preparation and maintenance of systems management documentation, test plans and user guides.
Assisting the I.T. Support Technician and I.T. Services Manager with managing and tracking application and development software licenses owned by the company. This includes the secure storage of physical media and software installation files that have been electronically downloaded from a software supplier web site.
The supervision of and assistance to the other I.T. Services team members as required.
Complete a weekly timesheet that accurately reports your job activities and expended time on a per project basis so that the Company can produce Client invoices and statistics for future cost estimates.
Managing and prioritising multiple tasks to ensure all relevant users are supported.

In order to be successful in this position, the successful Candidate is deemed to require the following skills / qualifications:
- Citrix User Support is desirable.
- Citrix Setup and Configuration (Application Publishing) is desirable.
- Citrix Setup and Configuration (Server Building) is desirable.
- SharePoint User Support 2003/2007 is desirable, i.e. relevant MCP.
- SharePoint Setup 2003/2007 is desirable, i.e. relevant MCP.
- Xen Virtualisation Troubleshooting is desirable.
- Xen Virtualisation Installation is desirable.
- Network Troubleshooting is required, i.e. CCNA.
- Network Building / Deployment is desirable, i.e. CCNA.
- Cisco Firewall Setup is required, i.e. CCNA.
- Cisco Switching (Basic VoIP/VLan/POE) is required, i.e. CCNA.
- VoIP Day to Day Management is desirable.
- VoIP Setup and Management (Trunk / Routes / Security) is desirable.
- E-Mail / Exchange management (Exchange 2003 & Exim) is required, i.e. relevant MCP.
- Linux Scripting (Backups, Sync, Failover, Testing) is desirable.
- Linux Building and Managing Servers (DNS, DHCP, FTP, Apache load balancer) is desirable.
- iSCSI SAN Management is desirable.
- Oracle Day-to-Day Management & Troubleshooting is desirable.
- Network Monitoring is required.
- Security Patching / Updates is required.
- Server Maintenance is required.
- Server Monitoring is required.
- Desktop User Support General MS Office / PC Support is required, i.e. relevant MCP or A+.

Salary circa £30k per annum + flexi. time working + benefits
