Working alongside the Production Engineering team, a Production Engineer is required to concentrate on the improvement of the manufacturing process, overseeing the productivities of the machine, control capital procurement projects and deal with daily issues as they arise.

Main responsibilities of the role:

1. Provide in-depth technical support, including extensive program investigations and modifications. This will require extensive experience in programming intelligent drives, PLC’s and PC’s.
2. Manage capital investment projects on time and in budget.
3. Be proactive in identifying and communication opportunities to continually improve and implement sustainable solutions to technical problems.
4. Clearly communicate process and plant status to other team members and shifts.
5. Support and process engineering changes for plant capability, maintenance and improvement where required.
6. Develop and undertake Production Engineering (SMED, 5s and similar) for all equipment and machines.
7. Maintain and update all relevant engineering drawings.
8. Single Minute Exchange of Dyes – optimising change over process.
9. Continue development of 5s within department.
10. Other duties as may reasonably be required.

Qualifications
Applicants should possess a good general standard of education in addition to a Degree, HND or HNC Electronic qualification, though demonstrable ability is the actual requirement.

Travel
Travel, both in the UK and abroad, is a feature of this position. This will be in support of both capital investment projects, and high level technical support.

Knowledge and Skills required
You must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, and Excel, AutoCad and a visual programming language. Good communication and organisational skills are essential and the person must have the confidence and maturity to work on their own initiative and remain calm under pressure.

Extensive experience in programming intelligent drives, PLC’s and PC’s

Desirable Attributes
• Proven experience in fault finding on modern software driven systems.
• Experience in a purchasing / expediting function.
• Experience in a logistics function.
