Applications Engineer
£15-20 per hour
13 week temp to perm contract

The Role
Primarily based on the outskirts of Peterborough.
Requires flexibility to travel for extended periods within Europe and worldwide.
May be required to work abroad of up to 4 weeks at short notice when working in Asia Support all aspects of the Design, development, build and testing of engines, test rigs and Application appliances or technologies.
Support all aspects of new applications and developments, with manufacturing and technology partners and engine or component build, testing, and development.
Support operations with technology and test rigs.
Design, build and testing of components and test rigs as required.
Assisting the Applications Leader with all aspects of design, development and testing relating to applications of technology, improvement of test rigs and application appliance design and integration.
Producing Technical reports, Test reports, Test and Validation plans and Maintenance Plans.
Carrying out experimental testing to agreed test plans to demonstrate functional performance and design validation.
Support testing and design for manufacture working with manufacturing partners.
Assist with Safety Reviews and reporting.
Assist with the development of procedures, specifications and work instructions.
Liaise with other test, design, analysis and manufacturing engineers and technicians.
Problem solving, analysing and interpreting test results, writing technical reports.
Preparing test documentation procedures and processes.
Producing build and test reports for audit and validation procedures.
Produce weekly summary progress reports.

The Person
As the Applications Engineer you will report to the Applications Leader.
Responsibilities of the position:
Reporting to the Applications Leader and responsible for preparing providing supporting documentation and technical design information for Applications and Testing.

Qualifications
Degree in an engineering discipline preferable. Applications from non-graduates with relevant experience will be considered.
Knowledge of heat transfer, mechanics, product development, instrumentation and testing related to machines, domestic appliances or white goods preferable.
Be chartered or working towards chartered status preferable.
Knowledge of reliability theories and Statistical Analysis.
Knowledge of materials and processes used in high volume manufacture such as metal casting, pressing, brazing, welding, machining etc.

Experience
Experience in Engineering, product development, testing or R&D environment.
Practical mechanical or combustion expertise.
Knowledge of engineering based reliability and quality projects.
Potential to lead a multi-disciplined team, develop and define work duties.
Good communication (verbal and written) skills.
Team player essential.
