Senior Electronics Engineer - Gloucester - £40,000 to £50,000 P/A
A Senior Electronics Engineer is required to join a leading global organisation at the forefront of safety critical electronic robotic products for the defence and public services sectors. The Senior Electronics Engineer will be responsible for leading a small team of Electronics Engineers. This will involve setting priorities and workloads for the team, ensuring tasks are completed on time and under budget and defining processes for the electronics team and ensuring they are followed.
The role will also consist of taking the lead on Electronic Hardware Design of new design projects, and implementing the Electronic aspects of Engineering Change Orders.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Mentor and develop a team of Engineers and Technicians responsible for a specific development discipline.
* Manage the development lifecycle, including design standards, implementation, integration, final testing, documentation, and detailed design in specific technology areas.
* Develop and implement appropriate design processes and systems and ensure that processes are followed.
* Participates in design reviews and other technical assessments of work at various stages of project implementation.
* In conjunction with the Head of Engineering manage resource loading and work closely with Project and Program Management to allocate design resources to projects accordingly.
* Work closely with Product Line and Program Management to understand requirements and to track product performance against design requirements through the development process.
* Interface with Production Engineering to ensure product transitions smoothly to production.
Designs and supporting circuits using:
* Phillips/NXP ARM7 Processors: LPC2138, LPC2468
* Xilinx, CPLD/FPGA Technologies
* High speed digital electronics
* Power Motor controls
* PIC Processors
* High Level System and circuit design for:
* Remotely Operated Vehicle Systems
* RF Communications
* RF Inhibition
* Testing
* Hardware
* Systems
* Proof of Concept
* Troubleshoot and improve existing products.
Education, Qualifications & Experience:
* Degree level Electronics BSc/BEng
* Minimum 10 years of related electronics experience
* Ethernet / USB / Wireless embedded implementations
* High speed ADC / DAC design
* Understanding of Radio communications e.g. Spread-spectrum / GSM / CDMA / WiFi
* Design & verification of Safety Critical systems
* PCB Layout - Altium Designer & Mentor Graphics
* Prior experience of working in a project led environment
* Proven leadership, negotiation, coaching & mentoring and skills
* Demonstrable knowledge of managing a team, setting standards of performance, coordination of activities, evaluation of performance and goal setting.
