Tooling Engineer: Composite manufacturing techniques, Vacuum Forming, high technology sector – Aerospace / Defence Systems

As a Tooling Engineer at the clients composite production facility in Leicestershire, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining all aspects of manufacturing tooling used within the business.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will work closely with Customers, Design/Process Engineers and manage sub-contract Tooling Designers/Suppliers to ensure a robust and effective approach. It is the perfect opportunity for an experienced Tooling Engineer to manage all aspects of the tooling function within the business.

As a Tooling Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
Proven capability and understanding of production tooling lifecycle management, from initial specification through to preventative maintenance, to support efficient manufacturing operations
.Strong manufacturing background with proven capability and understanding of production tooling design/manufacturing in a high technology sector.
Knowledge and experience of composite manufacturing techniques and practices. Injection Moulding, Vacuum forming.
Good understanding of 2D / 3D design drawings.
Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline will be considered an advantage.

As a Tooling Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:
Working with Operations, Project Management, Design/Process Engineers and customers to develop and implement best practice in production tooling.
Manage new tooling procurement, design, inspection and maintenance throughout the product lifecycle..
Assessing condition of existing tooling range and producing detailed documentation to identify refurbishment or redesign requirements.
Supporting operations in identifying improvements/modifications to the existing product tooling range to improve yield or quality.
Providing input into bid responses, compiling costs and manufacturing times to the business development function.
Conducting initial HSE risk assessment for new and existing tooling.
Providing timely reporting and data including representation in production and quality meetings..
