Night Shift Production Supervisor/Manager (injection moulding)

Annual Holidays – 25 + 8 statutory.
Location: West Midlands
The primary responsibility of this role is to manage all of the day-today running of the manufacturing Night Shift operations. Including but not limited to all aspects of; Industrial relations, Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and associated performance against KPIs.
Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all Machinery within the areas of your responsibility, and in conjunction with the engineering staff ensure the; maintenance, servicing, & upkeep of this equipment.
In conjunction with other members of the manufacturing team; driving improvement in quality & productivity. Managing & delivering improvements in Productivity (Operating to Standard Cycle times & optimising processes) whilst ensuring this is not at the expense of quality.
In conjunction with other members of the manufacturing team; ensure Safety, Quality, Cost, & Delivery KPIs are clearly displayed and understood by your team; that a formal process of review is in operation, & that quality alerts are communicated and acted upon.
In conjunction with; the Technical Director, Department Managers, External Process Consultants , Sales personnel ,and other relevant third parties, all aspects of New Product Development (NPD). Including trials of new machinery, tooling, and materials.
In conjunction with the Works Director / Department Managers, responsible for Recruitment / Selection of personnel, Training, Performance Management, Time & Attendance, Discipline, management of Holiday absence etc.
Ensure the areas under your control operate within, and work to the guide lines of the company Quality Systems.
Responsible for ensuring that all production areas under your control are working to production schedules, and to the requisite standards.
Responsible for controlling the integrity & security of all inventory in the areas under your control including; receipting, locating & storage of raw materials, work in progress & finished product. Responsibility for the supervision of annual Stock-takes on the night shift.
Daily communication with other operational management and supervision in the to ensure clear understanding and resolution of daily production issues.
Assist in the introduction of Standardised Work, Standard Operations (SOPs), Visual Management Systems and other Lean tools and techniques.
In conjunction with the Directors / senior management ensuring the operation of an efficient Layout within the areas under your control.
When required and In conjunction with the Directors / other department managers assist in all aspects of; Factory, Stores, and Warehouse Layout, and also; assist in the selection, recommendation and implement new plant & capital equipment.
Coordinate the operation of the raw materials stores on nights, associated personnel and inventory in order to ensure the adequate supply of material requirements. Supervise the movement of finished goods from manufacturing to finished goods marshalling areas / stores.
Responsible for all aspects House Keeping within the areas under your control. Ensure that minimum standards are in operation & maintained, and that 5S is in effective operation.
Ensure that the areas & associated personnel under your control operate in an environmentally responsible manner. Work should be undertaken in a manner where the use of materials and consumables are optimised, and where waste is kept to a minimum.
Responsible for managing all aspects of Health & Safety within the areas under your control. Including, but not limited to; Induction, Training, the use of PPE, Material Handling equipment, Manual handling, Completion of Risk Assessments, CoSHH etc.
Ideal candidate:
Will have held a similar position within 1st / 2nd tier automotive, aerospace, precision engineering environment or similar.
Will be fully conversant with low to medium batch high variety production environment.
Prerequisite, will be fully conversant with modern injection moulding environments & practices, is likely to have worked way up through the ranks and will be capable of fully conditioning presses across a range of polymers including Nylon.
Must be able to demonstrate formal engineering background or good engineering appreciation. Possibly engineering graduate.
Possibly with a formal supervisory or management qualification.
Maybe IOSH or similar health & safety qualification
Used to operating to demanding deadlines & KPIs. Will have a good appreciation of lean / CI and will be able to demonstrate a track record of performance improvement within a similar environment.
Must be able to cope with a rapid growth / constantly changing environment (an implementer / innovator, not a follower).
Will be expected to contribute to change & improvement in; working practice, layout, automation etc.
A Dynamic, robust, driven individual with good interpersonal skills. Able to demonstrate effective leadership of small teams.
Will be numerate & literate with intermediate standard or above in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
