This is an excellent opportunity to join our client based in North Yorkshire who design and manufacture products used within the nuclear industry.

Reporting to the Mechanical Design Manager & Project Managers the Mechanical Design Engineer will:

*Conceptualise remote decommissioning tooling solutions to mostly unique remote handling problems.

*Compile design based proposals and interface closely with the customer.

*Prove scheme and detail designs through classical and computer based stress analysis techniques.

*Take accepted designs through to manufacturing and testing stage, often liaising with in house and external
manufacturing suppliers.

*Produce and maintain validated design documentation and technical product data for specified products and
equipment to meet regulatory requirements.

To meet the companies requirements the Mechanical Design Engineer will have:

1. An honours degree qualification in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline.

2. A genuine interest and desire to understand mechanical systems.

3. The ability to communicate your ideas clearly to colleagues and customers.

4. The ability to work efficiently and effectively on your own or as part of the team.

The Role:

This is an ideal opportunity for Mechanical Design Engineers looking to bring their skills together on challenging and varied projects to provide mainly bespoke one-off solutions. Working alone or as part of a small multi-disciplinary design team, self-motivation, conscientiousness and a flexible attitude are valued highly.

Working primarily for the nuclear industry security clearance will be required.

Full UK driving license preferred.

Experience in any of the following is of particular interest but not essential: SDRC Ideas 3D modelling & 2D draughting, finite element analysis, Mathcad, LOLER & PUWER standards.
