You will provide IT and Professional Services category support, with a global understanding and a regional focus on EAME markets, suppliers, and business units as part of the Global Purchasing Indirect team.
The purpose of the Indirect Segment Purchasing Group is to develop global and regional sourcing strategy by category. This will be accomplished by understanding market trends, business unit trends, and implications to Caterpillar. From these strategies, source plans will be developed. Additionally, the team is responsible for spend and cost reduction, supply base optimization, contract terms and conditions, negotiations with suppliers, etc.
You will be accountable for assisting with implementing the IT and Professional Services strategy. It will incorporate global and European market trends, business unit needs, and a strong knowledge of the supply base to develop and recommend a European strategy to the Category Manager. You will recommend suppliers for BU projects, conduct requests for proposal, and negotiate contracts. The outcome will be reduced costs and a high quality, optimized supply base.
The Role:
You will join a global team of six people, based at Peterborough and will involve some global travel (approx 10%).
Manage policies, agreements, source plans.
Manage service delivery and reporting expectations for Global Purchasing.
Ensure on-going plans are in effect with supplier.
Understand & Interface with BU partners.
Develop a regional sourcing strategy.
Develop a strong source plan coverage in Europe.
Conduct RFPs as appropriate.
Negotiate contracts with suppliers.
Develop and execute cost and spend reduction projects.
Optimize the size of the regional supply base.
Execute Supplier Collaboration Ideas.
Participate in and support internal business partner strategy setting and planning.
Work with BU partners, attorneys, other purchasing personnel, outside suppliers.
Requirements:
Essential:
Experience is preferred in purchasing.
A strong understanding of IT.
The position requires an undergraduate degree from a college or university - or equivalent experience.
Strong negotiator, able to interpret, analyse and negotiate contractual cost elements.
Strategic, analytical, problem solving, and project leadership skill.
Effective communicator, in written and oral form. Fluent in English and able to effectively communicate with people across the business where English is the second language.
Well-developed interpersonal skills are required in dealing with sensitive issues, developing others, and reaching consensus on specific actions.
Functional leadership. Capable of leading teams, suppliers and customers to effective solutions.
Self-motivated and able to work independently as Manager will be based overseas.
Desirable:
Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply.
Second European language would be advantageous.
