Agency/Employer
Description

Our client specialise in the design, development and implementation of automated materials handling solutions for supply throughout Europe, and as a result of ongoing success and a proactive programme of planned strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) Engineer to undertake a range of development, implementation and hardware / software support activities for a diverse range of ASRS projects.

You will undertake a range of duties including estimating, design, installation and commissioning of projects to agreed targets and company standards, and will support the Engineering and Project teams in both achieving and improving financial targets, managing the development and maintenance of procedures and standards used across multiple projects and promoting a continuous improvement culture whilst liaising with various internal and external customers on a technical level to ensure full product understanding and correct application.

Tasked with supporting the sales teams with the estimation and concept of solutions prior to quotation, you will provide a complete controls design solution including electrical and software design and commissioning within cost and time scale constraints of a material-handling project, whilst ensuring the solution meets the requirements of the project and that consistent standards and continuous improvement methodologies are maintained and implemented within the team, and you will additionally form part of the group providing 24/7 x 52 week emergency support cover as part of a pre agreed (and genuinely properly proportioned) rota.

You will be required to specify equipment, products and services together with appropriate departments when required, and will be capable of both design and production of electrical layout and schematic drawings using appropriate CAD tools whilst being able to procure electrical installation services and liaise with suppliers and associated electrical installation supervisors and subcontractors on technical matters.

You will be proficient in the production of associated documentation to support design (including but not limited to Material Flow, Functional Design and Testing specifications) and will demonstrate previous experience in the design, production and test of crane and conveyor control software, as well as in the production of Health & Safety documentation and in performing site supervisory duties on projects when required. Other duties will include commissioning controls systems on site and providing support to system commissioning activities whilst assuming responsibility for associated budgetary and time restraints on projects and participating in project reviews either though reporting or attendance of meetings.

You will provide second line emergency support cover when required in support of the customer service support team, attending to system faults and performing investigation and fault rectification where necessary as well as providing a maintenance system that allows site PPM to be monitored, improved and to be cost effective. Demonstrable skills and experience with AutoCAD, E-plan, SAP and the MS suite of applications as well as an understanding of controls and design solutions and the use of relevant design standards such as EN528 are essential for the position. You will be fully conversant with Siemens S7 PLC software design and implementation as well as the associated design of safety based systems and relevant standards, and will thrive within a committed and professional, dynamic team based environment. Knowledge of PC control will prove distinctly advantageous.

You will demonstrate several years hands on experience working within an automated warehouse environment covering electrical controls design and commissioning and will be ideally qualified to at least HNC / HND or equivalent in an engineering related qualification.
