Mechanical Engineer – proven track record of designing precision mechanical components and assemblies – CAD/FEA - tolerancing, geometrical tolerancing - FMEA and prototype manufacture & assembly - able to work at senior level - based Malvern, Worcestershire – competitive salary plus benefits, dependant on qualifications and experience

We are looking for a mechanical engineer someone who can work at a senior level and who has a proven track record of designing precision mechanical components and assemblies to work for a high tech company that is involved with analytical instrumentation.

You must have a proven background in using CAD/FEA, tolerancing, geometrical tolerancing, FMEA and prototype manufacture & assembly.

Candidates for the position of Mechanical Design engineer will be graduates or equivalent with relevant experience in a high-technology background and a strong mechanical aptitude

The Mechanical Design Engineer (CAD/FEA) will need to possess an innovative, experimental approach and be able to undertake the design of concept, scheme of a complete instrument or a major subsystem

Experience of precision mechanisms, fluid handling or optics is required as is a wide materials expertise in metals, plastics, 3D CAD experience and design for test / reliability

You should have experience in DFM/FMEA and of delivering to tight project timescales

Electromechanical / electronics knowledge would be beneficial but not essential as would QFD and experience of manufacturing processes and/or rapid prototyping

The role of Mechanical Design Engineer (precision mechanical components) will be to provide the specification and development of mechanical modules or subsystems of precision opto-mechanical instrumentation products.

Day to day duties will include
• Providing concept, scheme and embodiment design of instrumentation mechanics, from initial requirements through to low/medium volume manufacture.
• Balancing potentially conflicting requirements in the design work e.g. Innovation vs. value, quality, reliability, assembly, test and service.

This role will be of special interest to those with a background in precision instrumentation.

Ideal candidates will be entrepreneurial, dynamic and used to working in a fast-moving environment with a hands-on, experimental approach

You should be commercially aware with a proven track record in working effectively to project timescales in a multidisciplinary team
