Development Team Leader - New product Design - Connectors/Mechatronics - c. 43k plus benefits - Wiltshire

Overview:
As the Development Team Leader, you will enjoy responsibility for a team of engineers and a Core Team Leader. This team will design and develop products from a customer specification or product requirement document (for speculative new product platforms) to release into production. The team will be responsible for the design and development of electro/mechanical connectors for the pump, elevator, security, and other commercial and building industries. As the Team Leader you will ensure that products are technically capable, meeting all aspects of a customers specification and passing all testing.

As the Development Team Leader, you will have a background in connector design and development. Including a strong background in plastic moulding, mould design, mould flow dynamics, overmoulding (inlay moulding), 2 shot moulding, contact physics, progressive stamping, continuous plating and relevant materials knowledge.

The Team Leader will have a hands on role liaising with customers, but will also be responsible for all aspects of managing a team. Ensuring all appraisals and other personnel matters are complete and up to date.

What you will do:
·Be responsible for a team that will design and development new products, in a hands on manor
·Understand the products mechanical and electrical requirements, and that their design satisfies these
·Ensure that all aspects of the product are considered during design from contact physics, protection of contacts (by plating), leadframe layout and moulding of a blemish free housing
·Implement tool design by working with internal and external tooling vendors to produce cost effective solutions
·Ensure that designs are completed in the required timescales
·Understand modeling results, fluid flow and stress analysis, and be able to interpret these into designs
·Communicate well with customers and understand their needs to ensure project wins
·Ensure that team works well together and are able to run a number of projects
·Understand engineering drawings with complex geometric tolerances
·Understand measurement reports, having tooling corrected or understand where tolerances can be increased
·Understand when a design will not work and can't be reliably produced and be able to communicate with a customer to help them understand this and resolve the issue together.

Ideally as a Development Team Leader, you will:
·Have a tertiary qualification in an engineering or a related subject
·Have a minimum of 3 years experience in a relevant product development role and experience of managing a development team
·Have taken a products from concept development to mass production
·Have a good knowledge of a broad range of manufacturing techniques and disciplines
·Have a good knowledge of plastic moulding, electrical contact design, progressive stamping and plating
·Have an understanding of mould flow and FEA analysis
·Have excellent interpersonal, organisational skills, being an innovator and delivering results proactively
·Be commercially & technically skilled
·Experience of delivering sustainable projects to time, cost and quality targets
·Be enthusiastic and self-motivated, able to work flexibly.
·Have good IT skills.
·Be willing to travel within the UK and overseas.
