Job Position: CAD Design Engineer - Autodesk Inventor

Reporting To: Engineering Manager

Job Status: Permanent

Job Summary:

Work as part of the Production Engineering Team creating and maintaining complex CAD models, assemblies and drawings of new and existing designs.
Specify, design, build, test, document and commission Electro-Mechanical precision mechanisms, accessories and tooling.
Maintain the CAD data management system, implementing new procedures and providing training and support to the Engineering team on their efficient use. Education & Experience Requirement:

Essential

HND in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering.
Autodesk Inventor advanced training/experience.
Good understanding of precision engineering principles and manufacturing techniques.
The design of precision mechanisms/tooling - working to tight timescales.

Desirable

Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Autodesk routed systems/simulation and Vault training.
Pneumatic/electronic design principles.
Assembly and testing of precision engineered mechanisms/machines. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Take CAD files from R & D and make them 'production ready' ensuring accurate correlation with the MRP system.
Produce and maintain complex assembly models for use as controlled work instructions in the manufacture of machines in the UK and overseas production facilities.
Design engineering solutions for use in production tooling and testing equipment.
Generate high quality detailed engineering drawings including appropriate geometric and dimensional tolerances to ensure 'right first time' cost effective manufacture.
Create accurate Bills of Materials.
Build or assist with the build of precision engineered solutions which may include electronics/pneumatic components.
Maintain the CAD data management system ensuring procedures are streamlined, understood and followed.
Optimise designs using tools such as FEA and Electrostatic modeling.
Work with suppliers to ensure drawings and models represent the exact details of any key manufacturing process.
Test performance of any solutions against customer agreed specification rapidly re-working any issues with the design.
Control individual/group projects and fully complete tasks within agreed timescales, highlighting potential issues before they affect the projects progress.
Create technical documentation including operator instructions and safety information in a clear concise manor using predominantly rendered CAD models/AVIs. Subsidiary Elements:

Support and promote company values and policies at all times.
Assist with training requirements for shop floor staff where require - new and ongoing - also assist with any other product training for other members of staff.
Assist with work required to maintain ISO quality compliance.
Assist with factory layout plans/work flows/storage requirements.
Work to issued plans and ensure tasks are properly completed and delivered on time.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of basic electronic and mechanical principles.
Provide budgetary quotations including labour estimates.
Work with all other team members in an effective and efficient manner and provide backup and assistance where necessary, including holiday and sickness.
Work to Health and Safety guidelines with particular attention to X-ray radiation, hazardous voltage and materials handling.
Occasionally travel to other facilities or suppliers premises both in the UK and around the world to assist with commissioning/training of customers. Preferred Skills & Abilities:

Essential

Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Proficient in Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD.
Hands on electronic/mechanical assembly.
Must have an eye for detail, always striving for perfection.
Flexible, self motivated with a hands on approach to problem solving.
Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and customers.

Desirable

FEA and Electrostatic modeling.
To be able to present to a group confidently. Additional: Occasional travel may be required.

Salary/Rate: Up to £33000 depending upon experience

Fringe Benefits: 25 days holiday and eligibility to join the Corporate Healthcare Scheme and Pension Scheme (4% employee contribution, 6% employer contribution) after 3 month's probationary period
