The role of the Engineering Manager is to oversee, manage and develop the Engineering Function of Babcock Integrated Technology in Appledore Shipyard.

Key Skills and Knowledge:

As Engineering Manager you will oversee and direct the technical work on allocated projects, promoting a culture of excellence in the quality of engineering outputs.
Working closely with site Technical Manager and Design Manager(s) to ensure technical requirements of all activities are achieved and managed in accordance with business requirements
You will develop the technical capability of the function, taking a lead role in the review, maintenance and upkeep of engineering business processes and quality assurance documentation.
You will deploy engineering resources to meet the priorities of Integrated Technology projects and external functions whilst maintaining the technical integrity of engineering outputs and develop and maintain forecasts of engineering resource requirements to meet known and expected project and function needs
The Engineering Manager will develop budget plans and contribute to preparation of tenders, communicating with staff, subcontractors, business partners & customers
Realising the creation and maintenance of good working relationships within teams, customers and business partners as well as development of cross-site work flow arrangements so as to support the overall business in terms of current and future growth aspirations.
You will provide support and direction to the various Integrated Technology Design Office Teams in Appledore i.e. Design / Structures / Systems / Outfit

Experience:

The Engineering Manager will have significant relevant engineering experience in marine engineering and related disciplines with senior management experience within a marine related industry

Qualifications:

* Degree in Naval Architecture
* Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) and membership of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects
