Service Manager Required for Busy HGV Dealership
JOB TITLE: Service Manager
RESPONSIBLE TO: Group Director
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To ensure company standards are adhered to in all aspects of the engineering facility; including vehicle safety maintenance, inspection, plant and equipment,stores, health and safety, work quality and vehicle cleanliness, and environmental responsibilities
To work to agreed targets and within budgets, including preparation, implementation and control
To oversee the effective supervision and management of the garage engineering function
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Manager within the organisation you are responsible for ensuring that you are familiar with any health and safety risks and issues that are relevant to the work activities and areas for which you have responsibility and for ensuring compliance with legal requirements and Company Policy.
Ensure Health and Safety standards are maintained within areas of responsibility , Take active visible ownership of safety issues and facilitate continuous safety awareness
Manage sub-contractors and visitors on site, ensuring all activities are in accordance with work orders and contracts. Report and investigate any sub standard work or activity.
Ensure service delivery is maintained through working with local teams and local authorities as required. Operate services within the Traffic Commissioner reliability guidelines and within internal KPI targets
Ensure all engineering KPIs/budgets are achieved
Ensure MOT planning, preparation and standards are carried out in accordance with company procedures
Ensure vehicle inspection/cleaning standards and auditing procedures are carried out in line with the company policy and comply with the terms of the Operator’s Licence
Ensure all vehicles are repaired effectively in line with the first use inspection and defect reporting procedure
All vehicle records should be maintained to DoT standards
Stock and store systems and procedures should be operated in accordance with company guidelines. Application of the parts warranty system
Ensure staffing and recruitment is managed and ensure availability of staff
Maintain fair and consistent disciplinary and grievance mechanisms
Ensure all accidents and incidents are investigated and the appropriate action taken
Develop and motivate all staff. Ensure all new staff receive the appropriate induction
To monitor, recommend and take action on staff turnover, sickness and absence. Ensure all Company policies and procedures are maintained
Take responsibility for the security of the site at all times.
Assist the Group Engineering Director in the compilation of budgets and management of agreed targets
Hold regular meetings with all staff at depot
Build transparency and trust by leading by example and providing feedback. Listen, understand and involve employees in the communication process
Such other comparable duties as may be required from time to time
