Senior Software Engineer
Working as a Senior Software Engineer (reporting to the Group Head of Technology) for a global manufacturer is a unique opportunity for a self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible engineer to join the company's Technology's Cambridge based R&D centre. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a wide range of demanding technology and product development projects and immediately engage into a commercially driven and multi-disciplinary team. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for delivering all parts of the software lifecycle used in the management of fast moving engineered products. The Senior Software Engineer will be required to work with minimal supervision utilizing his/her software skills to contribute to the timely development of innovative new products.

Senior Software Engineer Responsibilities include:
" Analysis, design and testing of software to exacting standards and timescales;
" Coding and debugging applications in various software languages on the PC platform;
" Software modelling and simulation;
" Software testing and quality assurance;
" Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability analysis and automation;
" Support, maintenance and documentation of software functionality
" Revision control of software systems;
" Integration of software with other components of a product;
" Communication with colleagues and other people important to the work of the organization;
" Identification and evaluation of new technologies suitable for implementation.
The ideal canddiate for the Senior Software Engineer:
" Good degree or equivalent in Software Engineering or related discipline.
" A good mixture of embedded and PC based software development experience
" Excellent programming skills in C/C++ and/or Java;
" Proven experience in GUI design and implementation on a Windows platform preferably using the Qt library;
" Experience of serial communications protocols such as RS232, Ethernet and TCP/IP.
" Good knowledge of security and encryption;
Desirable Competencies:
" Experience in API development;
" Experience in data analysis and graphing;
" Experience using other programming languages, e.g., Python, Ruby, PERL;
" Experience with programming under Linux;
" An understanding of wireless communications protocols, e.g., 802.11x, Bluetooth;
" An understanding of control theory, control systems and Digital Signal Processing.
