Non-conformance Engineers
Project Overview:
To deliver ongoing support to our client, a major producer of gas turbine engines for the aerospace industry, Assystem UK requires several Non-conformance Engineers. The salary for this position will be ranged between £27,000 - £32,000 dependent on experience. In addition to the salary there is a pension plan, health care option and 25 days leave. There is also the opportunity for progression within Assystem as we are keen to develop our staff to their full potential.
Working within the defence aerospace sector covering a range of gas turbine engines for both fixed and rotary wing aircraft. The work is varied and can cover components in pre, current or post production. These roles carry with them a high degree of responsibility to ensure that client satisfaction is maintained to the highest levels.
Successful candidates will be working to tight time scales within cross functional teams and liaising with engineering specialists to project manage issues through to resolution.
Function
The individual will be required to undertake technical investigation and sentencing of non-conformance concession requests and drawing alteration requests (DARs) for gas turbine components as part of the clients manufacturing process.
This will involve a comparison of the manufactured components to the component drawing and an investigation into the impact of the non-conformance. The use of illustrated part catalogues, design standards and drawing lay outs will assist in performing this task. Face to face support will also be provided to the client when required to progress issues.
Profile
Candidates will have experience in the design of high-integrity mechanical components. It is likely that successful candidates will be educated to degree level or have the equivalent experience in an aerospace environment.
Desirable Experience
Design and/or manufacturing of gas turbine components involving at least one of the following areas:
Turbines - blades, discs, casings
Compressors - blades, discs, casings
Combustor Casings
Shafts and transmission systems
Engine ancillaries - lubrication, fuel, hydraulic systems etc
Dealing with concessions and non-conformance issues
Defect investigation.
Experience of manufacturing processes
Project management - estimating completion dates, status updates
Presentations to a material review board
Potential Background
Ideally, candidates will have some experience in the following sectors;
Gas turbine OEM or the supply chain.
Automotive experience with engine/supercharger/turbo charger/transmissions experience.
Steam turbine OEM or supply chain (e.g. power generation systems).
