Electronics Development Technician - Assembly & Development Testing - to 26k - Bristol/Bath
As an Electronics Development Technician, you will be expected to undertake assembly and development testing of the company's products. This will involve developing and using manual and automated test equipment to validate the performance of the electronic modules within products. Test procedures and results of these tests need to be documented and reported in a clear and concise manner.
The Electronics Development Technician's main responsibilities will include producing in-house test equipment to be used to validate the performance of the electronic modules within the company's products. This will involve electronics design and software design for this test equipment.
·Operation of PC based applications for testing Network products such as Profibus and Foundation Fieldbus.
·To monitor and record all necessary information during tests.
·To build and test the company's new products and assist with its manufacture and development, maintaining adequate records of all work undertaken for inclusion in a technical report.
·Produce technical reports where necessary.
·To assist in the evaluation of licensees or competitors products.
·To ensure the proper safety procedures are followed.
·To occasionally visit third party test laboratories to supervise / conduct tests such as EMC compliance and safety testing.
·To occasionally visit customer sites for the purpose of learning how our products are installed and used in the UK or abroad.
·To assist with the general housekeeping of the department.
Ideally the Electronics Development Technician will be educated to degree or BTEC HND in Electrical/Electronics or equivalent, and have served an Electrical/Electronic biased apprenticeship or equivalent.
Experience and background are of consideration as well. Other factors include:
A good working knowledge and understanding of test, instrumentation and data acquisition equipment used in the electronic, electrical and mechanical fields.
Ability to program microcontrollers with a view to producing semi-automatic test equipment for use in-house.
Experience working in an R&D environment as an Electronics Technician.
Experience with Labview or similar graphical programming language to support test equipment built in-house.
Qualifications.
PC literate, good working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets.
Commutable from Bristol/Bath and surrounding areas.
