Electrical Design Engineer

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will join a dynamic and growing team with a strong focus on new product development to support the growth of the business and market share.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Electronics Systems Engineer to join the Engineering team of the world Number 1 manufacturer of Backhoe Loaders.

The Role:

Ownership of the wide range of Electronic systems fitted to the machine through the entire product lifecycle.

Working with the Engineering team to translate top-level marketing briefs into detailed requirements documents.

Liaising with suppliers to ensure software is delivered on time and to specification.

Planning and carrying out testing to ensure electronic systems meet both the Engineering brief and Group sign off standard.

A member of a team performing risk assessments and FMEAs.

Development and maintenance of Servicemaster tools to allow setup, fault finding and logging of ECUs by Field Service Engineers.

Electronics support for Field Service and Production.

Requirements:

Experience with automotive, agricultural, commercial or off road vehicle electrical systems would be desirable along with good general computer literacy.

Essential:

The ability to think logically and quickly identify faults with electrical and electronic systems.

A good understanding of vehicle electrical systems.

The ability to organise and prioritise a high workload.

An understanding of CAN communication protocols, particularly SAE J1939.

A good communicator who is able to discuss complex systems with non-electronic engineers in an easy to understand way.

Vector CANalyzer or CANoe network analysis tools.

Team player combined with a high level of commitment and enthusiasm as well as a flexible 'hands on' approach to problem solving.

Desirable:

An understanding of the C programming language.

MATLAB and Simulink model based software tools.

An understanding of XML or HTML programming languages.
