The Opportunity:

We have a vacancy for a Business Advisor (Procurement) to give direct advice to SMEs on how they can find opportunities and effectively bid for public procurement tenders and related supply chain contracts. This position will work full time on our ERDF Supply Chain Project "Business Generator", in the North East region.

Based in our Northern Business Unit, you will report to the Senior Project Manager and your main responsibilities will be to assist businesses within the North East to effectively bid, compete and win public procurement related contracts and supply chain contracts.

Person Specification:

Essential:

> Demonstrable experience of winning tenders either for an organisation or on behalf of other organisations/customers
> Demonstrable business acumen & commercial understanding gained through experience from within business situations, functions and key processes
> Wide knowledge of procurement procedures / protocol, and supply chain structures and opportunities.
> Educated to NVQ Level 4/degree level and/or holder of equivalent professional qualification or demonstrable experience in the delivery of business advice to senior management level
> A self starter with initiative, drive and the ability to work with minimal supervision
> Ability to build and enhance relationships up to executive board level through strong interpersonal, networking, communication and presentational skills
> Effective coach and facilitator to drive performance improvement
> Knowledge of key business processes and ability to analyse and diagnose strategic and operational business needs
> Proven ability to evaluate business needs and identify and advise on appropriate solutions
> Ability to demonstrate a comprehensive and up to date appreciation and understanding of the issues facing the local, regional and national business community
> Strong political, organisational and environmental awareness, sensitivity and ability to work effectively with a wide range of senior representatives both internal and external to the company
> Ability to prepare professional reports and action plans
> Competent used of CRM systems, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, e-mail and ability to readily learn to use new ICT packages
> Current driving licence and ability to fulfil transport requirements of post
> Knowledge of procurement portals and opportunities as advertised through OJEU and related websites
> Full Driving Licence and transport or willingness to travel

Desirable:

> Experience of business mentoring/counselling
> Knowledge of the broad range of business support initiatives
> Knowledge and understanding of public and private business support organisations
> Ability to interpret the financial health of a business using accounts and other financial information
