Fire Inspector (123jc)
My client an international service company is urgently seeking a Fire Inspector for a contract in Kandahar in side the wire.
Working under the supervision of the Chief Fire Inspector the Fire Inspector shall inspect existing structures, construction and remodelled sites for compliance with fire safety codes. The Fire Inspector must also be able to operate all Fire apparatus's and be able to conduct fire operations for both Crash and Structural settings.
Responsibilities
• Conduct fire inspections and education training sections
• Take action as required by SOP’s
• Comply with fire department policy
• Perform in a professional manner that prevents damage, loss or unnecessary financial loss to Fire Department equipment and materials
• Accept responsibility for errors or personal shortcomings and be able to accept constructive criticism and correct downfalls
• Become familiar with KAF safety regulations, in particular the safety regulations which pertain to the Fire Services and operations. No deviation is permitted from approved practices especially with respect to safety equipment
• Drive and operate fire fighting apparatus's
• Remove personnel from high risk areas to an area of relative safety
• Execute fire extinguishing procedures
• Provide Advance First Aid & CPR to the injured
• Return equipment to a state of normal stand-by readiness after every use
• Maintain fire fighting rescue tools (manual & power), maintain portable pumps
• Shall participate in required fire fighting training activities
• Shall maintain a physical fitness standard as required by Fire Services policy
• Participate in Fire Prevention and Life Safety inspections
• Conduct fire inspections
• Conduct fire investigations
• Assist in the inspection, testing and maintenance of all fire suppression systems, fire detection systems, fire alarm systems, water distribution systems
• Carry out inspections, testing and maintenance of hand portable Firefighting equipment. Life Safety equipment and fire fighting vehicles
• Setting an example by maintaining a high standard with respect to dress, deportment and communication
• Resolve any problems by informing supervisor of any problems using the proper chain of command
• Demonstrates initiative and utilizing time well, anticipating problems, and offering solutions
• Execute effective time management by completing assignments on time or earlier
• Perform various other duties as assigned by the manager
Qualifications
Hold a valid civilian driver license and be able to obtain a KFA driver license
Qualified to the following NFPA Standards or Equivalent
• NFPA 1001: Fire fighter Qualifications or Equivalent
• NFPA 1003: Airport Firefighter or Equivalent
• NFPA 1021: Fire Officer Level I or Equivalent
• NFPA 1031: Fire Inspector Level I/II or Equivalent
• NFPA 1041: Fire Instructor Level I or Equivalent
• NFPA 472 HAZMAT Awareness or Equivalent
• Must have at least 5 Years experience in fire inspection
• Must be computer literate
• Must be fluent orally and in reading and writing in the English Language
