This friendly school located in the suburbs of Cairo are looking for a dynamic & inspiring Physics Teacher to join their school in September 2012.

THE SCHOOL

This British school opened 10 years ago and is one of the premier schools in Cairo. It has more than 1000 children in roll from more than 30 nationalities and the language of instruction is English. The school enrol children aged 3+ years plus into their KG1 classes and have 4 form entry up to Year 5. Years 6 - 11 are 2/3 form entry and years 12 & 13 are 1 form entry. The school follow the Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP) for English, Mathematics and Science. The works schemes are very similar to the QCA ones and we use text books and schemes from major UK houses such as Jolly Phonics, Heinemann Maths, Oxford Reading Tree etc. The school also follow the International Primary Curriculum for non-core subjects.

In the secondary phase, the school are a registered centre for Edexcel and Cambridge examinations and the students follow a Key Stage 3 and 4 pattern similar to the UK which culminates in 9/10 GCSE or IGCSE subject exams. AS and A2 follows as the pre university preparation.

You will have:
• A UK Degree
• A UK Teaching qualification
• Ideally have a minimum of 2 years teaching experience post qualification
• A passionate approach to Physics and be able to deliver fun and interesting lessons
Only very strong NQTs would be considered for this position.

THE SALARY

For the successful candidate you will be entitled to the following and more:
• Tax free salary based on UK scales paid in pounds sterling and 25% local currency
• Generous accommodation allowance or school provided apartment
• Two year contracts extendable by mutual agreement
• Annual flight allowance
• Baggage allowance
• Free education at the school for up to 3 dependent children
• End of service gratuity

Most staff say that you can live very comfortably on 500 Sterling a month as this would be regarded as a very good salary for a local. So it is possible to put aside a significant portion of your salary. As the school grows they intend to improve the benefits package. It is important to the school that staff should feel valued and appreciated.
