Main purpose of the job
Management of the Electronic Production facility, including PCB, CAD and Electronic Assembly. Currently the team consists of 4 CAD engineers and 2 Assembly engineers.
The position will include a significant portion of fee-earning work, through involvement in client projects in the areas of design and manufacture.
Type of work undertaken by the group
ECAD:
Schematic capture and PCB layout of RF, analogue and digital electronic circuits using Mentor Graphics CAD tools. Liaising with PCB manufacturers and subcontracting boards for manufacture.
Electronic Assembly:
Our Electronic Assembly Laboratory provides a fast turn around, high quality prototyping service for electronic assemblies, using up to date production equipment. The laboratory also provides a number of supporting services, including: component procurement and storage, wiring and cable assembly, breadboard and test rig assembly, electromechanical and mechanical assembly and functional test. The equipment includes a Screen Printer – DEK Horizon 03i, Automated pick and place machine– MYDATA MY9, Vapour Phase Reflow (Lead free) machine– IBL SLC500, Convection Reflow oven - Quad ZCR, Screen Cleaner – Kerry SS2000, Wave solder machine– Soltec 6551, PCB Cleaner – Kerry Microclean compact, Rework Station – Ersa IR500A, and Vision Engineering inspection systems.
Specific responsibilities
Managing our electronic production facility and its people to a high standard, including maintenance of the lab, the equipment and software tools
Maintaining working practices within the team which meet quality standards for the manufacture of deliverable equipment
Scheduling and prioritising work through the electronic production facility, by liaison with programme managers and engineers across the company, using our IT-based scheduling system
Line management of the team members within the group, including career development and training
Providing design services to our clients through project work (minimum 50% of time)
Minimum requirements
Whilst a degree in electronic engineering / production engineering would be an advantage, applicants with HND will be considered
Experience of management in an electronic production environment
Familiarity with CAD tools and assembly equipment comparable to those named above
