Our client a global manufacturer on the outskirts of Southampton, are now looking for a Production Technician to join the production department.

Reporting in to the Production Supervisor, the main duties of the role will be manufacturing basic electromechanical assemblies within the product range whilst adhering to company documentation. The right individual will have previous manufacturing experience with 6 months experience in electrical/ mechanical manufacturing. To be considered for the position you must be proficient in soldering and experienced in working on PCB’s. Experience of through hole soldering and fine pitch soldering would be desirable.

It would be highly desirable although not essential that Individuals have knowledge of common optical components and optical fibre as well as experience in manufacturing fibre optic assemblies. Experience with splicing optical fibre, optical alignment, optical fibre termination as well as knowledge of bench test equipment such as oscilloscopes, optical power meters and OTDR’s would also be highly desirable.

Due to the limited public transport links in the area it would be preferable if the right individual has a driving licence and their own transport.

This position is a 12 month fix-term contract with strong potential to go permanent. The salary on offer is in the region or £23,000 - £25,000 dependant on experience together with other associated benefits including 23 days annual holiday, contributory pension scheme, private medical life insurance.
