DBA Support Analyst
Up to £25K pa plus benefits & potential 5% bonus

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of Europe’s largest specialist media publishers who currently produce over 70 leading classified titles, run a selection of popular and profitable websites and operate several high-volume printing businesses.
Job Purpose
- Ownership of the data within the database environments
- To manage the data to ensure:
Data is cleansed
Data integrity is maintained
Data is consistent
Dataflow is maintained
- Responsibility for ETL processes for all databases
- Implement and enforce data policies set by the Data Asset Manager
- Develop standards and procedures for best working practices
- Create and maintain standard interfaces to all databases
- Monitor all processes relating to the import and extract of data
- Provision of data sets for the operational, QA and development database environments
- Monitoring and daily maintenance of automated build procedures
Maintain data sets from all internal and external sources
Functions and Responsibilities:
- Liaison with delivery channels regarding the design of applications affecting the data
- Provision of first and second line support for any incidents and problems relating to the data held within the databases, including out-of-hours cover
- Escalation point for any queries, incidents or problems
- To create, maintain and run ETL procedures, including the management of 3rd party data feeds and extracts
- To create and maintain monitoring procedures for all data import and export routines
- To create and maintain documentation for all database applications and procedures
- To manage automated deployments into the QA and operational environments
- To follow defined processes & procedures
- To ensure that defined procedures are adhered to by other parties
- Provide technical assistance to other departments as and when required
- To assist in the provision of accurate, up-to-date documentation for all aspects of the hosting environment
- To keep abreast of new technologies and provide suggestions for continuous improvements to the environment
- Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude at all times
- Be adaptable to changing business needs as and when required
Any other duties as and when required
Essential Technical Skills
- Intermediate SQL
- Intermediate MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of File Transfer Protocol
- SQL tuning
- Basic PL/SQL
Essential Personnel Skills
- Attention to detail, specifically relating to following documentation and following processes in order to minimise mistakes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate at a range of levels
- Good timekeeping, including work prioritisation with minimal supervision
- The ability to work under pressure to tight timescales
- Ability to prioritise with technical experts from other disciplines.
Desirable Technical Skills
- Experience of Database development / administration for the following database technologies:
Oracle 9i, 10g & RAC
Microsoft SQL Server
MySQL
- Experience of TOAD or PL/SQL Developer
- ETL tool experience – preferably Ab Initio
- Basic Unix/Linux and Windows administration experience
- Oracle Application Express / HTML DB
- Familiarisation with XML standards and technologies
