| Description |
Our client is a leading designer and manufacturer of electro-mechanical systems for the Transportation industry. They now have a requirement for 3 Senior J2EE Developers to work on an initial 3 month contract.
The Role - Senior J2EE Developer required to participate in the migration of clients Forte Web API software components to Java/J2EE and development of new Java/J2EE components
Key responsibilities:
• Install and configure new BEA WebLogic environments
• Produce detailed estimates and technical specifications for proposals and budgeting purposes
• Design, implement and test changes to the Central System software components
• Provide 3rd line support to production systems
• Analyse production faults and emerging requirements to determine the most effective course of action
• Provide technical assistance to other engineering functions e.g. Developers, System Test
• Report to team leader on performance against timescales, specifications and requirements. Identify any deviations from the plan and carry out corrective actions.
The Candidate - You will be educated to degree level in a relevent discipline and have Java certification. It is essential that you have:
• significant experience of BEA WebLogic Administration, installation, configuration, deployments, trouble-shooting
• Significant experience of software development of high volume, complex applications
• Significant experience of Java/J2EE Development, including at least J2EE 1.4, EJBs, Servlets, XML, JSP, JMS, Eclipse, JDBC, BEA WebLogic, JUnit, ANT
• Significant experience of software development against an RDBMS database (ideally Oracle 8 or higher)
• Good SQL skills
• Good Object Oriented Design and implementation experience, including UML for design and specification of software components
• WAR/EAR/JAR building
• JVM: Configuration, monitoring and control experience
• Good Unix experience, shell scripting, builds
Desirable Skills:
• J2EE 1.5, XML/XSLT Parsers, Log4J, Commons, Axis, WSDL, HTTP/S
• Experience of TCP/IP, FTP and other comms protocols.
• Support and maintenance experience on production systems
• Involvement in TickIT, ISO9001 or ITIL based development processes

• Proven ability to pick up new skills quickly and effectively
• Aware of software development best practice and able to apply standards and procedures effectively.
