An exciting opportunity with one of our key suppliers has arisen for an Applications Developer with skills in SQL, Classic ASP, ASP.Net or VB.Net.
The skills required for the Software developer includes specification, developing, supporting and bug-fixing of enterprise applications based on ASP technology(ASP, VB and SQL Server 2008). The Web developer will also be involved in the release, configuration and implementation processes.
The Applications developer role will include extensive interaction with many different departments internally, coordinating these processes and the actual hands-on aspects of the release process too. The Software developer role will also require taking ownership of web projects and driving them forward. The Web developer will be a good communicator, self-motivated, well organised and capable of prioritising own workload.
The Application developer's responsibilities are listed below:
• Implement, manage & deliver in-house web based applications to drive efficiency and removal of manual systems
• Drive continual improvements in MIS reporting infrastructure and user interfaces
• Management of SQL databases, data integrity and financial reporting.
The Software developer's key tasks are:
• Management of SQL Data warehouse including data integrity and exports to financial and MIS systems
• Develop web based applications to drive efficiency through the business
o Commercial analysis
o Recipe management
o Health, Safety & Risk compliance
o Purchase Ordering system
• Work with IT Director to plan and strategise all project work from a data and web application perspective
• Assist internal Little Chef departments in the retrieval and analysis of financial & statistical data where required
• Carry out Project work as directed, including Testing, implementation & training where required.
• Carry out Ad Hoc tasks as and when directed by the IT Director.
Mandatory skills and experience for the Web developer
• Proficiency with Classic ASP/ASP .NET and/or VB .Net
• SQL 2008 Reporting and Analysis Services
• Knowledge of cube / data warehouse concepts (Business Intelligence tools such as Crystal Reports / Cognos)
• Proficiency creating tables, queries, indices, and relationships in a Relational Database
• Ability running SQL statements through T-SQL or SQL Server
• Understanding of web communication technologies
• Understanding of Microsoft SQL Server
• Excellent communication, organisational, and customer facing skills
• Strong multi-tasking, time management skills
Desirable skills and experience for the Applications developer are:
• In depth knowledge of Microsoft platforms
• Proficiency with Client and Server Based Windows Operating Systems
• Troubleshooting IIS web server and Windows based application server technologies
• Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies and a drive to solve problems efficiency and with creativity
Additional information for the Software developer role include
• Hours of work are Monday - Thursday 9am – 5:30pm, Friday 9am – 5pm
• Out of hours / weekend work may be required where business needs dictate
• 28 days holiday + statutory days
