Operations Development Graduate Analyst requirements

The Team
The Operations Development Group is responsible for optimizing the way in which Tesco operates in the UK. We work on many ground-breaking initiatives drawn from across the business. Of the many projects across the company, team members lead those which are often the most challenging and cross-functional but with the greatest potential to the business.

The team works with other departments in the business to develop and deliver operational improvements by analysing issues, shaping solutions and supporting their implementation to make our core processes "Better, Simpler and Cheaper".

The team currently consists of ten Operation Development Managers (ODMs) and two Operations Development Analysts (ODAs). Each ODM leads a project or projects. Projects are quite often multidisciplinary and will require the analyst to work in collaboration with other analysts and project managers across the UK business.

The team is led by an Operations Development Director. He is in charge of all change programmes within the business, and aims to delivery a record annual operational cost this year.

Operations Development Graduate Analyst role
The primary responsibility of this role is analyzing and developing solutions for operational problems. One of the main activities is to break down large quantities of data from several Tesco systems. The other one is to process and model this information in a mathematical form; that is why it is of the utmost importance to have a strong mathematical background and outstanding logical thinking.

Graduate Analysts will also be expected to spend some time working within store environment supporting the implementation of change in the business. Analysts deal with many areas of the UK business and to people of all levels, so it is important that they are comfortable presenting to and interacting with more senior employees.

We are looking for Graduate analysts with the following skill set:

· High analytical capability
· Wide experience in data mining
· Advanced MS Excel and MS Access
· SQL programming
· Strong Mathematical Modelling
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Graduate Analysts should work with little supervision and consistently produce accurate and timely results.

The Role
The Graduate analyst will be working in a group of highly capable, energetic and driven people. The role can give the Graduate analyst the opportunity to learn about Tesco operations, data analysis, mathematical modelling, problem solving, project management, and change management. Whilst the team is spread across many projects, we all support each other and have a strong team identity.
