Experienced Java Developer (J2EE) – Southampton, Hampshire – up to £38K

Experienced Java developer (J2EE) required to join a market leader within digital communications for broadband, mobile and satellite services from their head office based outside Southampton in the Fareham area.

The Java Developer role will involve working within the full software development lifecycle which will include meetings clients on site to gather their requirements through to completing design specifications, developing the software (within Java, J2E on their web services environment) through to testing and final client handover. You will be expected to aid within the leading of a team of software developers, mentor junior members where required and produce some documentation for testing purposes.

The correct individual will have at least three years experience within a similar Java / J2E development role and have graduated from a reputable university within software engineering or equivalent. Alternatively you will have at least five years commercial experience within a similar java / J2E development role. You will be highly skilled within Java and J2E and have experience of working within the design and development of web applications preferably within a three tier client server environment. Further knowledge of any combination of XML, HTML, AJAX, JavaScript, PHP, Eclipse, Oracle, SQL (either MS-SQL or PL-SQL), Unix and .NET technologies would be highly advantageous. As you will be client facing then your communication skills must be excellent and you must be pro-active, able to manage your own time. Any experience, either officially or unofficially within leading a team or mentoring junior team members would be of benefit.
