SQL Database Administrator / 3rd Line Systems Engineer urgently required to work for a leading provider of online services, to maintain the entire hosting platform with minimal customer impact.

The successful 3rd Line Engineer / DBA will be responsible for supporting, maintaining and growing the Windows server platform; Improving the security and stability of the infrastructure; supporting the hosting environment, network, IP traffic & servers. You will work with the R&D team on the creation and implementation of new serviced products and the network manager to maintain the network infrastructure and IP traffic flow.

The 3rd line team provides 24/7 cover to the business. Upon successfully completing a probation period, this role will require that you participate in the on call out of hours callout cover. This operates on a weekly shift system. Each engineer participates in this scheme as required.

Skills, preferably within a web hosting ISP environment: Windows 2003/2008 server administration, exposure to SQL 2000/2005 and 2008, knowledge of Replication, Database Mirroring and Log Shipping, knowledge of using SQL profiler and system management views to diagnose performance issues, knowledge of data transformation using DTS and SSIS, knowledge of SQL backup and restore commands, Good T-SQL skills, IIS 6/7 Administration, web scripting language - ASP 1 PHP / DotNet, full understanding of core internet protocols and technologies (SMTP I POP3 / DNS / HTTP etc).

Desirable: Group policy - design and implementation, Exchange 2003, Linux and IP security monitoring appliances (firewall load balancing traffic analysis).
