Personnel Specification

Applicants must as a minimum, meet the eligibility criteria listed below.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualifications

Essential

*A Level 6 qualification on the National Qualifications Framework, e.g. Degree or above in computer science, software engineering or business information systems or related discipline.

Desirable

*Demonstrate appropriate training or a qualification in project management in an Information and Learning Technology and/or an Information Systems environment.

Experience

Essential

*A minimum of 2 years exp. as a developer within the last 5 years using SQL; and

*Demonstrate up to date knowledge and exp. in using computerised reporting tools and techniques to provide management information to users within the last 3 years, within large and complex organisations *; and

*Demonstrate an understanding of the software development lifecycle and successfully managing software projects.

*Large and complex organisations will be deemed to have more than 250 employees and a turnover, or budget in excess of £4m. It is the responsibility of the Applicant to demonstrate clearly in his/her application how this criteria is met.

Desirable

*Demonstrate exp. of working in a similar role in a Further / Higher education environment;

*Demonstrate knowledge and exp. in the use of college MIS systems and processes (e.g. QLS, QLP, Unit-e, Columbus, Moodle, VLE, etc.).

General

Essential

*Access to a form of transport that will satisfy the travel requirements of this post. (Please refer to the General section in the application pack for further information on this requirement).

The competencies listed below will be assessed during the appointment process for those candidates who have been shortlisted using the eligibility criteria above.

*Demonstrate knowledge needed to perform the role and a positive approach to developing own knowledge base;
*An ability to work under pressure, prioritising a complex and varied workload to ensure jobs are completed to the required standard within tight deadlines;

*Proven organisational and project management skills with the ability to analyse problems, assess solutions and develop new applications from beginning to end;

*Proven ability to communicate effectively, with the ability to build and maintain relationships both within the team and with external stakeholders;

*An ability to respond to customer and business requirements by designing and implementing high quality reporting solutions to process and manipulate large data sets to provide meaningful management information.
